Springs 2 - Gravel Garden
The new owners of this small 8m x 10m north facing garden, a middle unit, requested a low maintenance garden that was simple to construct, without fixed hardscape elements, used natural materials, allowed for casual seating and conversation around a central fire pit at sunset, and a small dining area for weekend breakfast and morning coffee.
The hardscape in this garden consisted of 25mm sawn Silver Grey Granite laid on compacted subbase. Beige gravel was used as fill-in. The existing mature Neem tree was kept in its existing location, as it provided good shade in the morning. The existing well- adapted shrubs that were dotted around the garden where relocated and planted into groups, giving the garden a slightly more contemporary feel.
